Product Of The Month, September 2011

The first Product of the Month is Volta. it was a bit hard to chose but it's one of my most popular shades so why not start with it?

Before I start and since it's the first POTM, I'd like to tell you what it's going to be about and what you'll see during this time. There'll be weekly posts and this is what you'll find through the month.

-Product pictures and swatches.
-Info on that product: inspiration, ingredients, reasons I love it, instructions on how to use it and a list of possible uses for it.
-EOTD's using the featured product.
-The featured product will be a 20% off during the entire month and customers will receive a little gift when they buy a full size of it.
-Color combinations using other Lost in Makeupland shades with the featured product.
-A monthly giveaway of a full size jar of the POTM.
-Guest posts (this obviously depends on you ;) ).
-Looks from customers (same here!).

Volta is one of the eye shadows from the Rock My Look Collection, a bright, dark blackened eggplant purple. It's got a bit of shimmer to it and reflects light amazingly. As you can see, it's got a strong black base that makes it perfect for smokey looks.

I won't lie when I say I LOVE it and it's one of the shades I use the most, specially as an eyeliner due to it's thick dark consistency and the way the color suits me. You can use it wet as an eyeliner or over the whole lid for an ultra intense result, on top of a dark base for an super smokey look, on its own on the lid, on top of a light base for a brighter result. It will never disappoint you!

It works great on any skin tone and is flattering on every eye color, specially green eyes. It's deep and beautiful, what else can you ask for?

Mica, titanium oxide, carnauba wax, boron nitride, iron oxide, tin oxide, ultramarines, magnesium stearate, carmine.

Volta contains carmine, so it isn't vegan. It also contains ultramarines, which means it's not safe for lip use either.

PLEASE keep these facts in mind when you buy a product, and don't use it if you're sensitive to any of the ingredients or use it where it's not approved. We indie companies have to inform you, but you have to be responsible and know what you're buying and make sure it's safe for you.

The Rock My Look collection is a music inspired one, based on some of my favorite bands and songs ever and the colors they bring to my mind when I listen to them. Every shade was named after a band or song.

You can see more detailed info on the inspiration behind the Rock My Look collection and more swatches in this post where I even gave links to music videos.

Volta was named after the band The Mars Volta. They're amazing, pure genius, and if you don't know them by now you should. I wanted to create a color that expressed everything they bring to my mind when I listen to the and I'm pretty proud of the result.

This month you can win a full size jar of Volta. Entering is super easy it won't take you long! Are you going to tell me you don't want it?

What you have to do is:
1. Become a follower if you aren't already, giveaways are for followers only.
2. Comment telling me why you love Volta.

A winner will be drawn at random on October 1st. You have the whole month to participate!

Have you tried Volta? What do you think of it? What do you think of featuring a product each month? I can't wait to know what you think, and if you have any suggestions of things that could be included in the POTM features, don't hesitate to let me know!

I am following! Here is why I love Volta: I love smokey eyes, I love black-based shadows, and I loooove purples as they look so lovely on brown eyes.

Loving the look of Volta! I've been on the lookout for an intense purple that isn't too blue based and Volta definitely blows the others I've seen out the water! Wow and wow again!!
I'm a GFC follower.

Volta is so pretty, it would go nicely with quite a lot of pink and blue shades among other things (what about gold?)
It's a really pretty colour :)

Hello! :) I follow you on GFC as ragingtuna.
Purples are my favourite shades to wear, and Volta is a great smokey purple. Also...you have the same skin tone/colouring as me! So if you say that this colour really suits you, then I have no doubt that it would suit me. Actually, I used your lipstick swatches this morning to help pick out a lipstick...your descriptions as to what shades are warm, and which ones clashed with your skin tone, were REALLY helpful!

Sorry for going off on a tangent there, hehe. :)
